Dubai: URBN at White – Music for my ears

Saturday night means URBN at White, and URBN means a night dedicated to RnB and hip-hop and I was invited to come and check it out.So there you have it, the reason why old-and-tired Sanne skipped her pajamas and hot tea TV-date with CSI and instead dusted off her heels from her 20’s and her black dress. Because those who know Sanne, know that this is her kind of music.

In Dubai, most people have Friday and Saturday off, which means that Thursday and Friday are the city’s main party-nights. Saturday nights can also be good, but you really need to know what you’re doing, as even some of the large clubs with long lines outside on Thursdays and Fridays, can be completely empty on a Saturday night.

Though this was not the case for White. Already around midnight, the club was full. The music was an awesome mix of old school classics and new hits and provided the perfect musical backdrop for the very spacious, very white, open-air settings. There’s no real dance floor at White, but the space between the tables and around the bars is so generous that there’s plenty of room to show off your moves, should you wish to do so.
The crowd was primarily people in their 20s, and more hip than glam, but I think anyone who’s into rap and RnB would find White to be a very accommodating place.

On Saturdays, White also has this Flawless Diamond thing. At the entrance, girls are handed a small velvet box with what could be a real diamond inside. During the evening, the “diamonds” are inspected, and the lucky winner will be announced. To be honest, I missed that completely, as I thought I was handed an empty box, because the diamond was so small. Only after I got back home, I realized that this tiny little gem/piece of glass was hiding in the box. Maybe I should go and have it valued?
