Update 2019: There is no longer a Bobbi Brown in Dubai Marina Mall:/
Through the years, I’ve gone back and forth between scary bushy brows and over-plucked, permanently-surprised thin lines. Sometimes one of each. Nowadays I never touch my brows, because one of the things you learn as you grow older is to leave your eyebrows in the hands of professionals.
Ideally, it shouldn’t be more than 2 weeks between each visit, but when you travel as much as I do, it can be a challenge. Luckily, there’s a Bobbi Brown Brow Studio in Dubai Marina Mall, which is right around the corner from where we live, so this is where I go, to get my brows fixed, when I’m in Dubai.
I think you pay 85AED the first time, and if you come back for a touch-up within one month, it’s only 50AED. In addition, they have this loyalty program so every 3rd time (or is it 5th time?), it’s free. You get a stamp card, which I always forget to bring along, so they keep it for me in the store.
It’s always the same lady, Ruby, who does my brows. She’s brilliant at threading, which is a technique for removing even the finest hairs efficiently and relatively painless by the use of two intertwining threads. Even though I’ve been there a number of times, and Ruby knows my brow preferences by now, she always starts with marking the intended shape with brow shadow. Then the threading itself begins, and after some 10 minutes, it’s done. My new perfect brows are then fixed in shape with brow gel and I’m free to go.
