In Dubai, I’m usually getting my nails done at Haven Spa, which is a cute, pink salon in Layan Community, a bit outside the city. The ladies working at Haven are really nice, and I’ve been there so many times, that we’ve gotten to know each other well. They share my interest in tasty food, and I always leave with tips and recommendations on Nepalese and Filipino food.
I always go for pastel colors in the summer, because that is what feels most natural to me. I have tried darker shades, but I think they are difficult to match with my summer clothes, and even during winter, you will see me picking light, neutral colors for my nails.
I keep my nails rather short, which is an old habit from med school. Short nails are much easier to keep clean, and it’s a style that I’ve come to like. I’ve tried gel polish a couple of times, but it ruins my nails and makes them soft and spongy, so nowadays I stick to regular polish. if I wait in the salon and give the polish enough time to dry, it will last for a week or more, and by then, my nails would have grown so much that I would need to change the polish anyway, so there is really no need for me to use gel polish.
Here’s a video from my last visit at Haven Spa:
