Home delivery in Dubai Marina – What to order?

Spinach mushroom and tomato omelette, IHOP Dubai home delivery
Spinach mushroom and tomato omelette home delivery from IHOP

In Dubai, everybody is advised to stay in their homes and self-quarantine as far as possible, and for the next couple of weeks, all restaurants are closed except for home delivery. I therefore thought I would put together a list of my favorite restaurants for home delivery along with the dishes I usually order.

I mainly use Uber Eats because they let you track the order in detail. Furthermore, you can tip online and request completely contactless delivery. I have also previously used Zomato which sometimes has some really good offers, and many of my friends use Deliveroo.

The list features restaurants that deliver to my neighborhood (Dubai Marina). Here it is:

My favorite restaurants in Dubai for home delivery

Did I miss something? What’s your favorite place for home delivery? Send me a message.

Breakfast

IHOP: Spinach, mushroom and tomato omelette (comes with Hollandaise sauce). I’m not a big fan of their pancakes, but their crepes are really nice.

Pizza

Fratelli la Bufala – A new favorite of mine. Rather pricey pizzas but there is a 2-for-1 offer on Uber Eats for select pizzas. I hope they keep that offer. If you like anchovies, get the Napoli pizza (anchovies, tomato, mozzarella and capers), it’s delicious.

800 Pizza – A safe pizza bet in Dubai Marina: The Margherita with buffalo mozzarella is good, but if you like pizzas with white sauce, go for the Classic Truffle pizza.

Cucina Mia – Decent pizzas, reasonably priced (for some reason the pizzas do not show in the Uber Eats menu right now. I assume it’s a temporary bug): Bresaola Rucola e Grana is the best (rocket salad and bresaola).

Burgers

Bareburger – Best vegan burgers around: The Duchesse with vegan cheese and portobello bacon is my favorite.

ShakeShack: The Shack Stack with beef patty and crispy breaded portobello mushrooms is the best.

Cheesecake Factory: Poul claims that the Glam Burger is the best burger he has ever had.

Lebanese/Middle East

Zaroob: The Manakeesh Garlic Chicken Wrap is the best.

Operation Falafel: Poul always gets the OF Sliders Box with 12 mini sliders. Great value for money, and you can pick and choose between 3 different kinds of sliders.

Sushi

Sushi Art (the one at JBR) – Not sure they’re on Uber Eats, but I think they are on Zomato. Not the cheapest but also not the most expensive, and their sushi is consistently good: I like most of their menu, but the Salmon Ceviche and the Signature Rolls I have tried were all really good.

Thai

Cafe Isan – Best Thai restaurant in my neighborhood: Som Tam (papaya salad), Laab Gai (salad with minced chicken and herbs, remember not to order it too spicy), Thai Iced Tea, Yam Woon Sen (glass noodle salad with seafood). Their Khao Man Gai (chicken rice) is also nice although the chicken is a bit chewy. Tried the DIY Som Tam kit. It does not come with instructions, so if you’ve also ordered other dishes, it can be difficult to know which ingredients that are condiments to the other dishes and which ingredients that go into the salad. Cafe Isan is not on Uber Eats but you can order through their website.

Korean

Hyu – The best of the Korean restaurants that delivers to Dubai Marina if you ask me. A bit pricey, but worth it: Kimbap (Korean maki rolls with vegetables), Moolnaengmyun (cold buckwheat noodles in a tasty broth), Bibimbap (rice topped with vegetables and a fried egg).

Indian

Zafran in Marina Mall – Consistently good Indian food: Paneer Makhani and lots of naan. When I have dined in the restaurant, the garlic naan have been really good, but they tend to get a rather bitter flavor when ordered as home delivery. Go for the butter naan instead for home delivery.

Vegan

Soul Santé – One of the only all-vegan restaurants in Dubai Marina: Banana Protein Pancakes and Pulled Jackfruit Tacos

Desserts and cakes

Magnolia Bakery: Banana pudding and cheese cake. I don’t like their cupcakes (I find the frosting too heavy and buttery).

Dunkin, Tim Hortons and Krispy Kreme: The donuts at these three places are all good. If forced to choose I would probably pick Krispy Kreme as number 1. I like the custard-filled ones the best.

Cheesecake Factory: The Strawberry Cheesecake is the best

To be continued – I will keep updating this list
