One of my favorite places at JBR is The Maine Oyster Bar. It is right next to the beach, and there is always such a nice vibe down there, especially if you get one of the tables outside on the patio.
The other day Poul and I stopped by around 9pm in the evening. We did not have a reservation but we were both craving fresh oysters, so we gave it a shot, and asked if? perhaps? maybe? they had a table for us outside? And yes, we were lucky.
The Maine is on the ground floor inside DoubleTree by Hilton, and you walk through the parking basement to get there. It is not a place that you just stumble upon, if you don’t know about it, so you won’t find a lot of tourists there, but among those of us who live in the area, The Maine is one of the most popular places to go for dinner and drinks. My friend Jihan is a regular at The Maine, so I had hoped she would be there too that night, but she was at home, sleeping.
The Maine has a great selection of oysters, and there’s always something tempting on the menu. I prefer the small and briny ones (though not the super small ones) over the large, meaty ones, so we had a dozen of Fine de Claire, which are always good.
