The other day Pia had arranged to meet with some of her colleagues for after-work drinks at Siddharta Lounge at Grosvenor House, so she asked if Trine and I wanted to stop by. Of course we would, because Siddharta is a really nice place, and it’s been a long time since my last visit. Poul and I used to live in the building right next to Grosvenor House, but it was only the last couple of months before we moved to another place, that I actually went there.
You see, Grosvenor House is super posh, and I had expected that both Buddha Bar and Siddharta would be those kind of places with expensive drinks, poor service and inflated egos. The first assumption was right, but drinks are expensive everywhere in Dubai and both staff and clientele turned out to be really nice, at least the times I’ve been there.
While Buddha Bar usually attracts the party crowd, Siddharta Lounge is more relaxed, and the big outdoor pool lounge is a great place to meet with friends (or happy Swedish after-workers) for a cocktail.
Apropos cocktails, Trine got one with sake while I had one with whiskey. It really bothers me that I don’t remember the name of the cocktails, because they were both very tasty and definitely worth giving a shot, if you’re visiting Siddharta.
A little later in the evening, our Swedish after work party moved indoors to have dinner at the private dining room. I would have liked to join too, but I had promised Trine that we were having Chinese hot pot dinner at Xiao Wei Yang, so we went there instead.
