Yesterday, I was invited to the relaunch of The t-lounge by Dilmah at the Pullman Hotel. It was a really nice event and I got to try so many different kinds of tea. There was green tea, white tea, black tea and a few herbal teas, and the tea was served both hot and cold, as well as as an ingredient in various mocktails.
The finger food at the high tea buffet had been carefully selected to accompany the tea, and I was surprised to see how well most teas went with savory food. Try goat cheese crostini with a cup of black tea, it’s delicious.
Dilmah is a family-owned tea company from Sri Lanka, and Dilmah’s CEO, Dilhan C. Fernan do was at the event, giving a passionate talk on tea. The lounge will also function as a gallery, so you can enjoy the fine art along with your tea, and the artist and yoga guru Bharat Thakur was at the event, assisting in painting a t-lounge piece, which will later be displayed in the lounge.
It’s always interesting with events that teaches you something new, and I left the t-lounge with a lot of new knowledge about tea as well as an appetite for learning more. I was also reminded that it is about time to drop my bad habit of leaving the tea bag in the cup while drinking; if the tea is brewing for too long, it will ruin the flavor 🙂
