UAE consists of 7 emirates, but except for an accidental trip to Sharjah after a wrong turn, Dubai is the only emirate I have been to, since we moved down here almost 2 years ago. Today we therefore decided to take a road trip to Umm Al Quwain, which is another emirate, located just a little more than an hour’s drive North of Dubai.
It was a nice trip with some great views of camel farms, date palm plantations and even an old IL-76 airplane. There are many different stories about how the plane ended up in Umm Al Quwain, and I’m not sure which one is actually true. Though it’s a really great photo opportunity, don’t you think?
The final destination for our road trip was the Barracuda liquor store. There are also liquor stores in Dubai, but Barracuda has a very nice selection of all things boozy including sake and Korean soju. They also had lots of promotions, so we ended up purchasing a lot more than we had planned. At Barracuda, there’s also a resort and a water park, for those who want to stay a little longer.
