Jean-Georges is now permanently closed
Dubai doesn’t lack fine dining opportunities, but only a few manage to leave an impression. Jean-Georges Dining Room is definitely one of them. The cheapest prix fixe menu is 540 AED and includes 3 dishes and dessert. Yes, it’s expensive, but if you’re celebrating a special occasion, or you just want to try out fine dining of international caliber in Dubai, Jean-Georges Dining Room should be on top of your list. You can also order a la carte, but the prix fixe menu is a better deal if you’re after more than just a snack.
Jean-Georges Dubai is one of the newest additions to celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s international presence. Jean-Georges Vongerichten is based in New York, and his NYC flagship Jean-Georges has 3 Michelin stars (2015). Some of the menu items from New York are also on the Dubai menu. The most famous ones include the Caviar Creations, which you can choose as a Prix Fixe Menu item for an additional 148 AED. I haven’t tried it yet, but if you do, please send me an email and let me know if it’s worth the extra cost.
I’m not really sure how to describe the cuisine, but the most appropriate term would probably be Modern French? There’s a bunch of playful dishes to choose among and you’ll see combinations of flavors and textures, which you haven’t seen anywhere else. Most of it is very tasty, so come with an open mind.
• If you’re curious about Jean-Georges but not ready to splurge, JG Kitchen right next to Jean-Georges Dining Room, provides a less expensive, more informal alternative.
• If money ain’t a thang, then go all-in and order the Jean-Georges’ Menu, which is a fixed selection of some of the restaurant’s most iconic dishes. It costs 895AED and the wine pairing is 548AED.
• I forgot to write down the exact prices, when I visted, but I remember the beverages at Jean-Georges to be very affordable, considering the location. I think a cocktail was around 60 AED.
