When it comes to affordable Mexican restaurants in Dubai, Maria Bonita is your best bet. The restaurant is founded by a homesick Mexican pilot, who thought the city needed a genuine Mexican eatery, so the food is just as Mexican as what you get in Mexico and the servings are large so don’t even think about trying to finish your food.

My Maria Bonita favorite is fish tacos, but their fajitas also deserve a big thumbs up. I have long wanted to try the churros on the dessert menu, but I’ve always been so full after my main course that just thinking about dessert has been out of the question.
The restaurant is cozy and the colorful décor along with Mexican pop music contributes to the restaurant’s casual and homely vibe.

The only drawback is the restaurant’s location, which is quite a walk from any metro station (the closest one is Noor Islamic Bank), but in spite of this, the restaurant is always busy and at times, it can be difficult to get a table. If it is not too hot, ask for a table outside, as they are the best. There is also a small store in the restaurant, where you can buy Mexican food products.

 

• If you order guacamole, a waiter rolls out a small trolley with the ingredients and make the guacamole at your table.

 

• Most items on the menu cost around 50-60AED, so spending more than 100AED on a meal at Maria Bonita will require quite an effort.
