It is always ladies’ night somewhere in Dubai, and on Saturdays, an old favorite is the ladies’ night at Q43 at Media One. Their ladies’ night offer has changed over the years, but these days, you get free flow all night from a selection of cocktails and wine for 59AED as well as 50% off the regular food menu. It is a really good deal for those of us who think that a great night out starts with good food.
We had tuna tartare and steak tartare for starters, because you never go wrong with raw, as long as the ingredients are good. We also had grilled octopus, which was tasty too, even though the sauce was a bit too sweet to be a full homerun for me. After the starters, we shared a 300g ribeye steak with chimichurri and salad. It was well-marbled and perfectly cooked (medium rare with emphasis on rare), and so big, we had troubles finishing it.
I was already full, but you can’t say no to 20 AED-desserts (after the discount), so I had a chocolate fondant for dessert. Trine is not into desserts (at least not the solid ones), so she had a big red cocktail instead. As we were about to finish our meal, Peter came by. He was on her way to pick up her girlfriend from the airport, so thought he would stop by and join us for a cup of coffee. He is currently writing a book about Dubai, so we got an update on the project. It sounds really interesting and I am looking forward to read the final result.
