惠特尼美国艺术博物馆里有的不仅仅是绘画收藏品而已。实际上，这间博物馆是以接受任何形式的艺术品而闻名，例如装置艺术和影片，而当中集中于美国艺术和还活着的艺术家。这间博物馆有一种充满活力，接近时髦，的氛围，有点像纽约皇后区的MoMa PS1，就连我那些平时对博物馆不太感兴趣的朋友都喜欢惠特尼。
纽约肉库区一座美丽的建筑物为这间多层博物馆提供了框架，而这里有着明亮透风的室内展示空间之余，也拥有遥望着肉库区和哈德逊河的露天平台。再往更远的南方望去，你还可以看到自由塔和金融区摩天大厦的天际线。
除非你对艺术深感兴趣，不然在博物馆里待上1 到2个小时就大概足够了。接着就到外面享受这城市雄伟的景色吧。
在惠特尼里有两间餐厅 – Untitled 和Studio Café。我还没有在那里用餐过，但我听说Untitled挺好的。
一般入门票价格是$25，你也可以在网上预定门票，没有额外收费。这是值得考虑的，因为有时候要拜访这间博物馆的人会很多，要排很长的队伍买票。
每逢星期五晚上7时至9时30分，博物馆会有“付你想付的“（Pay what you wish）的门票。
拜访博物馆后，我通常会沿着高线公园散步。在博物馆外面就有能直达公园的台阶。
