In Dubai, you can go out every night of the week, if you wish, and you can have just as much fun on an ordinary Monday as on a Saturday night. Since Monday was Rikke’s last evening here in Dubai, we therefore decided to go to Trader Vic’s in Madinat Jumeirah and have some drinks. Jessica and David as well as two of Rikke’s friends, who live down here, also joined us.
Trader Vic’s serves up some of Dubai’s strongest and most tasty cocktails, and even though I have been through most of their cocktail menu during the last 12 months, I still haven’t managed to find a drink that I do not like.
Trader Vic’s is Dubai-famous for their legendary (and VERY strong) Tiki Puka Puka. To start with, it tastes a lot of alcohol, but the more you drink of it, the better it gets. Most of Trader Vic’s drinks are decorated with berries, fruit and other cocktail bling, and one of the drinks I had Monday included a cute little parrot for me to keep.
Since New Year’s Eve the days have rushed away. We’ve had friends staying here, friends coming over and friends to go and see almost every day, and it has started taking its toll. Today, Poul and I have therefore decided on a night in, with lots of TV-watching and calorie intensive home delivery food. Maybe there’s even an episode of C.S.I. NY for me to watch?
Waiter, there’s a parrot in my cocktail! Rikke, Jessica and me.
