Mae Sot: Coffee morning at Tea Garden

Mae Sot: Coffe morning at Tea Garden

Morning coffee at Tea Garden in Mae Sot is such a nice experience. The cafe is tucked away, just off the busy Intharakiri Road, and the small tables in the lush, green backyard attracts a quirky mix of artists, NGO-workers and locals. The coffee is freshly brewed from beans sourced from small coffee farms in the northern highlands of Thailand, which provide the perfect conditions for the exquisite Arabica coffee, which thrives in mountainous regions.

Tea Garden doesn’t have any fancy espresso machines, but their French press coffee and the freshly ground beans are really all you need. I like the coffee with a bit of milk and a teaspoon of the delicious raw sugar that comes with the coffee at Tea Garden. I sometimes (as in every time) order Egg Roti, which is a type of flatbread that you sprinkle with sugar or condensed milk and that tastes like a little piece of heaven. What a wonderful way to start the day.
