Haribo Piratos

The Haribo Piratos is a must-have for true salty licorice lovers! Even though Haribo is a German brand, Piratos have been a long time favorite in Denmark, where they’ve been an integrated part of the supermarket candy aisles for as long as I remember. The salty, coin-shaped licorice is not for the faint of heart, but if you’re looking for a gift for your Scandinavian friend, or to satisfy your own salty licorice cravings, this one is for you.

About Haribo

Haribo is a German candy brand that’s been around since 1920, famous for its gummy bears and an ever-growing lineup of playful, chewy treats. Haribo is highly popular in Denmark and you’ll find an extensive selection of Haribo candy in most supermarkets and candy shops.

In the US, I’ve mostly seen the sweet Haribo candy, while the sour gummies and licorice candy from the brand are much harder to find. The Haribo candy you’ll find in my shop is made in Germany and imported to the US. The ingredients are thus compliant with the strict European regulations and free from many of the additives and artificial colors that are otherwise used in candy sold in the US.

Ingredients: Glucose syrup; sugar; thickener: gum arabic; corn starch; ammonium chloride; crude licorice (3%); salt; aroma; color: vegetable charcoal; palm oil; surface treatment agents: beeswax white and yellow, carnauba wax.

Allergens: Beeswax and coconut oil.

Contains licorice – people suffering from hypertension should avoid excessive consumption.
