If you’re flying out of JFK’s Terminal 4, there’s a good chance you’ll find me relaxing at the Delta Sky Club near Gate B31. It’s not the flashiest lounge out there, but it’s big, it’s comfortable, and it’s consistently better than most lounges I’ve been to, especially in Europe, and after so many visits, it feels like a familiar part of my travels. The lounge is spacious enough that even during busier times, you can usually find a quiet spot to relax. Personally, I’ve never had to wait in line to get in, though I typically travel late at night when it’s less crowded. From what I’ve heard, lines can be an issue during peak hours, especially with so many business travelers having access.
One thing I love is that all Delta Sky Clubs serve Starbucks coffee, and to-go cups are available, which is a really nice touch. It’s not often you find such good coffee in an airport lounge, and being able to take a cup with you is a great bonus. The food is decent too, and especially the chicken dishes tend to be really good.
If you’re traveling in the afternoon or evening, you’ll find a charcuterie and cheese board on offer. It’s nothing fancy, but a plate of crackers, cheese, and maybe a glass of red wine can be the perfect pre-flight treat. Personally, I usually skip the alcohol before flying, but it’s nice to have the option.
There’s usually a selection of cookies or cake to satisfy your sweet tooth, and if you’re lucky, you might come across the occasional Rice Krispies treats. I just can’t resist those gooey, sweet squares—if you ask me, they are almost worth a lounge visit on their own:)
Breakfast at Delta Sky Club
I’ve only tried the breakfast once, as I’m usually on evening flights out of JFK. When I was there, the breakfast was served buffet-style and included the usual American breakfast buffet dishes plus some more unusual ones such including chia pudding, and smoothies. Though the main reason why the breakfast deserves a mention is the bagel station, where you can toast your own bagel. There are several different kinds of bagels to choose among as well as different kinds of homemade cream cheese.

Shower Facilities and Outdoor Space
If you have time for a freshen-up, the showers here are pretty good. I’ve never had an issue booking one, even during busier times, and while they’re not luxurious, they’re nice and clean.
One of my favorite features of this lounge is the outdoor terrace. Watching planes on the apron while soaking up some fresh Jet-A1 infused air is a great way to reset before a long-haul flight.
How I Access Delta Sky Club
I access Delta Sky Club as a KLM Gold member, which grants me entry when flying to or from Europe. This lounge is a significant upgrade compared to the other lounge I have access to with my DragonPass membership through my credit card, which is smaller, less comfortable, and without most of the nice features of Delta Sky Club.
Tips for Your Visit
Avoid Peak Hours: If you can, schedule your visit for late evening or early morning to skip the lines and enjoy a quieter atmosphere.
Try the Outdoor Terrace: Even if you’re not an aviation geek, the view is a unique feature you won’t find in many lounges.
Don’t Skip the Snacks: Whether it’s the cookies, Rice Krispies treats, or charcuterie board, there’s something to please every palate.
Book Showers Early: While I’ve never had trouble booking, it’s always better to plan ahead if you want to freshen up.
Enjoy the Coffee: Don’t underestimate how much a good cup of coffee can improve your travel day. Get one to go, it’s priceless to have a nice latte to sip on while you’re waiting to board your flight.
