Las Vegas: DMX at Foxtail – Party Up!

DMX at Foxtail, Las Vegas

The night I met for dinner with Susan, DMX was playing at Foxtail. Susan wasn’t too eager to go, and she was working the day after, but she insisted on dropping me off at the club in her big white truck. Americans and their trucks, ha ha…but it looked cool and it was fun to drive in.

I was wearing a pastel-colored dress that night, because I had been wearing black all the nights before, but when I entered Foxtail, I realized that a pastel-colored dress at a hip hop concert probably wasn’t the most appropriate outfit, if you wanted to blend in. At least there was no risk I would bump into anyone, wearing a similar outfit that night.

The concert was great, and I was right in front of the stage. At some point, DMX was pouring bourbon (or was it rum?) from a bottle and into the mouths of his fans including me. Though I think he mistook my nostrils for my mouth because most of it ended up in my nose and my eyes, ouch!

He performed all his old hits including rap classics such as “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem“, “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” and “Party up (Up In Here)”, which most of you probably know even if you don’t listen to rap music? Regarding Party Up (Up In here), some people claim it’s a diss to Eminem, though I’m not sure about that. You can check out the lyrics at Genius.com, which is a great tool for decoding lyrics (also non-hip hop)

It was an awesome concert, and it seemed like everybody there was real fans and knew all the songs. I guess the long drive to SLS, which is far north on The Strip had sorted out the sheep from the goats..
