NYC: Zombie walk in Lower Manhattan

New York City Blog

The first night in New York, I stayed in TriBeca. It took quite a while to get out of the airport and into the city, so it was 7pm before I checked in at the hotel. Jetlagged and miserable, I went out for a walk in the area, trying to build up an appetite, but my body kept arguing that it was past midnight and thus way beyond bedtime. Dinner? No thanks, but maybe Red Bull and coffee?

When I’m jetlagged, I’m like a zombie, and it’s not one of the friendly cartoon ones. I therefore sometimes wait to tell my friends that I’m in town until after a day or two, when I’ve become human again.

Otherwise, it’s great to be back in New York. It’s my favorite city in the world, and it’s been much too long since the last time I was here. This time I’ll be staying for 11 days, and I’ll get to celebrate 4th of July in the city for the first time. I’m also invited to Sue’s baby’s 100 day’s celebration, which is a traditional Korean celebration.

Mende has moved from New York, but she’s visiting this weekend. We’ve booked a table at Contra, which is a contemporary American restaurant on Orchard Street and I’m really looking forward to our dinner.
