The first night in New York, I stayed in TriBeca. It took quite a while to get out of the airport and into the city, so it was 7pm before I checked in at the hotel. Jetlagged and miserable, I went out for a walk in the area, trying to build up an appetite, but my body kept arguing that it was past midnight and thus way beyond bedtime. Dinner? No thanks, but maybe Red Bull and coffee?
When Iām jetlagged, Iām like a zombie, and itās not one of the friendly cartoon ones. I therefore sometimes wait to tell my friends that Iām in town until after a day or two, when Iāve become human again.
Otherwise, itās great to be back in New York. Itās my favorite city in the world, and itās been much too long since the last time I was here. This time Iāll be staying for 11 days, and Iāll get to celebrate 4th of July in the city for the first time. Iām also invited to Sueās babyās 100 dayās celebration, which is a traditional Korean celebration.
Mende has moved from New York, but sheās visiting this weekend. Weāve booked a table at Contra, which is a contemporary American restaurant on Orchard Street and Iām really looking forward to our dinner.
