Every Sex and the City fan girl probably remember Magnolia Bakery on Bleecker Street, which is where Carrie, mouth full of cupcake, tells Miranda that ‘Big wasn’t a crush, he was a crash’ (episode 5, season 3).
The SATC presence was Magnolia Bakery’s instant ticket to fame, and in the 00’s and early 10’s, you would often have to wait an hour or more to get inside the tiny shop to buy a cupcake. Today, there are several branches of Magnolia Bakery spread across the city, and the cupcake hype has calmed down, so even though the original spot on Bleecker Street still manage to attract a crowd, the lines outside rarely get very long.
The cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery look just as sweet as they taste, and am not a big fan of cupcakes. Instead I would usually have the banana pudding or the brownies, which are both among the best I’ve ever had and the reason why you should visit Magnolia Bakery, even if you don’t like cupcakes, and you didn’t watch Sex and the City. Ooh, I almost forgot to mention the cheesecake. It is really awesome too.
