This cute little bakery on Broome Street specializes in vegan and glutenfree temptations, and they’re doing an excellent job. Compared to other vegan places I’ve been to, you don’t feel that you’re making any sacrifices at Erin McKenna’s. As a matter of fact, the cakes here are better than at some of the non-vegan bakeries, I can think of.
I’m not a vegan, nor a vegetarian, and the reason why I ventured inside at Erin McKenna’s for the first time was just pure cake cravings. I didn’t regret that, because the banana cupcake I devoured a few minutes later was fantastic. The chocolate frosting on the top wasn’t too sweet but super creamy, and the cake itself was moist and tasted like it was straight out of the oven.
Today there are also branches of Erin McKenna’s Bakery in Orlando and LA, but the bakery on Broome Street is where it all started.
There are a few seats around the counter inside the bakery, but if the weather is nice, I would suggest that you take the cakes outside and enjoy them in the sun.
Everything down to the sprinkles is vegan. As a sweetener, they use agave and vegan sugar.
