Phnom Penh: Hemisphere at Tribe Hotel

Phnom Penh: Hemisphere at Tribe Hotel

Last time I was visiting Phnom Penh, I met with Mr. Alan and Mr. Pheap, designers at Phnom Penh based fair fashion brand A.N.D., at Hemisphere, which is a swanky new rooftop bar and restaurant at Tribe hotel. Mr. Alan and Mr. Pheap had both been to Hemisphere before for fashion events, but it was my first time there.

Hemisphere is a beautiful spot with a hip, cosmopolitan vibe. It’s located in Phnom Penh, but it might as well have been in Tokyo, New York, or Hong Kong. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, but if presented with a choice, you should definitely go for a table outside because from the rooftop, you have a beautiful view of the river and the neighborhood.

We were originally there for cocktails, but we also had a couple of light bites to share including a ceviche arranged on top of a big pile of guacamole, and a beautiful, beetroot-cured salmon.

Then the dessert menu arrived, and since we all have a giant big tooth, we gave in. Mr. Pheap and I had Belgian Waffles which came with different toppings, and Mr. Alan had an ice cream dessert, which looked very pretty.

Cocktails at Hemisphere start at $6 and go up to $10, which aligns with the general price range for cocktails at a swanky bar in Phnom Penh. The food is to the pricier side with a $14 price tag for a Caesar salad or a pasta dish. Though except for the price level, I liked everything about Hemisphere, which is a great place to unwind, socialize, or enjoy a night out.

Since my visit, Hemisphere has got a new executive chef, but the main theme of the menu is still on international food even though I can see that they’ve also added a selection of Khmer dishes to the menu, which I think is really great.

Mitzie Mee - Sanne

Welcome to my Phnom Penh Blog. I have been to Phnom Penh many times over the years. It’s a fantastic city with so much to offer, even though at first glance it can seem noisy and slightly chaotic. It’s still a very affordable place to visit, and you can eat incredibly well for next to nothing. I’ve made many good friends in Phnom Penh, and they’ve shown me all the spots I never would have found on my own. Here on the blog, I write about food and restaurants, along with the experiences you shouldn’t miss when you visit Phnom Penh.
