VooDoo Rooftop Nightclub on a Saturday Night – Las Vegas

VooDoo rooftop Nightclub, Las Vegas

Trine was determined to have a quiet night in, but I thought it would be a shame for her to miss a Saturday night in Las Vegas. I therefore went to get her a strawberry daiquiri, to make her change her mind.

I succeeded, and a couple of hours later, we were in the elevator at Rio, on our way up to VooDoo Rooftop nightclub. VooDoo is an old Vegas favorite of mine. I know it’s not the hottest place around, but it’s FUN, and fun always wins in Vegas. Furthermore, what VooDoo might be lacking in terms of hipster appeal and A-list crowd, they make up for in terms of party people and gorgeous views of The Strip.

We spent the first 30 minutes taking photos, admiring the view. Trine needed a little time to snap out of her almost-asleep bubble, and to help her on the way, I got us the Witch Doctor, which is VooDoos (in)famous signature cocktail.  The Witch Doctor is an evil mix of a long list of spirits (and a little bit of pineapple juice?), but it tastes like soda, so you must be careful. I think it costs around $35, but in terms of value for money, it is worth every penny. The Witch Doctor is like four ordinary cocktails in one, so there’s plenty to go round. We had such a great time and ended up staying until closing time.

To the DJ: I loved your playlist that night, but one thing was missing.  Despite several requests during the night, you didn’t play one single Jay-Z track. Why, oh why?

To the guy with the reggae beanie: Drinking shots with sister T is always a bad idea..
