Tokyo: T.Y. Harbor – A waterfront brewery and restaurant

T.Y. Harbor - Tokyo

T.Y. Harbor is a brewery and restaurant located right at the waterfront. The extensive international menu is full of tempting bites, and the restaurant is especially known for tasty, American-style burgers, which are supposed to be among the best in Tokyo. The brewery is located right next to the restaurants, and provides a good selection of in-house brews. I had the IPA and the Pale Ale and both of them were very tasty. If you aren’t a beer drinker, there’s also a few cocktails on the drink menu.

In spite of the location, which is a bit off from where most tourists choose to stay in Tokyo, T.Y. Harbor seems to be busy most of the time. The restaurant is particularly popular among expats, but when I was there, I also saw a lot of Japanese people brunching in the restaurant.
On weekends and when the weather is nice, scoring a table will most definitely require a reservation, which can be done online, on their website.
Sometimes, T.Y. Harbor are closed for private events, so before you get on the train, make sure to call and check that they’re open.

The beer comes in 5 different sizes starting at 550JPY for a small beer (250ml). On weekdays, there are special lunch offers starting at 1000JPY for a soup, but in the evening and on weekends, prices go up, so if you’re going for dinner, expect to spend around 3000-6000JPY on food.

What to wear? T.Y. Harbor is a casual place, but casual in Tokyo still means rather up-dressed.

What to order?Ā The Pale Ale, or the IPA, and the burger

T.Y. Harbor is within walking distance from Shinagawa InterCity Flea Market, which is a really nice weekly flea market in Tokyo
