Breakfast tip: Greek Yogurt with Jam

Breakfast tip: Greek Yogurt with Jam

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, breakfast is often first in line to take a hit due to time constraints. Yet, breakfast sets the tone for the rest of the day, and if you’re like me and can’t get out of grumpy mode, unless you’re properly fed in the morning, breakfast is essential to start off on the right foot.

Greek yogurt (or any yogurt) gets and instant upgrade with jam. Add fresh fruit and berries for that additional wow-effect, and you’ll have a breakfast favorite, you’ll be jumping out of bed for.

I use plain Greek yogurt and I prefer Greek brands as I like the thick, creamy texture of authentic Greek yogurt, but you can use any kind of plain yogurt you like. Try to avoid the ones with added sugar, as you’ll be adding sweetness from the jam, and the hole point of starting with a blank, unsweetened canvas, is that you’re in control of how much, or how little, processed sugar that goes into your breakfast bowl.

When it comes to jam, opt for varieties that use real fruit and have a lower sugar content. The berry flavor in good quality jams is often very concentrated, so you’ll only need a teaspoon or two to get a really nice flavor and color for the yogurt.

Tips

You can sprinkle some granola and nuts over the yogurt to make it more filling

Greek yogurt with jam isn’t just limited to breakfast. It can also be a delicious, light dessert or an afternoon snack. Serve it in a beautiful glass layered with alternating yogurt and jam, topped with fresh berries and nuts.

You can also make your own jam. The jam I’m using in the video below is homemade blackberry jam with vanilla and rum. Here’s the recipe:

I’ve had really good experiences with the Ninja air fryers. They're easy to use, the quality feels solid, and the results are consistently great. I like that you don’t have to fuss around with settings to get good food out of it. Vegetables turn out crisp without drying out, and chicken comes out juicy with a nice golden crust. It’s one of those kitchen gadgets that actually lives up to the hype and ends up being used all the time.

Caraway Nonstick Ceramic Frying Pan (2.7 qt, 10.5")
$115.00

Caraway recently launched on Amazon, and their cookware is as pretty as it is practical. The Caraway 10.5" Nonstick Ceramic Frying Pan is one of those pieces you’ll find yourself reaching for all the time, whether it’s for eggs, sautéed veggies, or pancakes on the weekend. I especially love it in Perracotta, which adds such a nice pop of color in the kitchen.

The naturally non-stick surface means you can cook with less oil or butter, and cleanup is quick with just a wipe or light wash. Like all of Caraway’s cookware, the pan is free from PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead, and cadmium, so you don’t have to worry about toxins sneaking into your food.

It works on all stovetops, gas, electric, and induction, and it’s oven-safe up to 550ºF, which makes it super versatile. Durable, easy to use, and so good-looking, this is a pan that really makes everyday cooking feel a little more special.
