Los Angeles day trip: Laguna Beach and Las Brisas

Laguna Beach

Besides being the home of a large fraction of California’s reality stars, Laguna Beach is a very popular seaside city with a wonderful beach and a cool, laid-back atmosphere.

AC’s friend grew up in this area, so she had lots of suggestions to what we should see and do. One of the things, we promised her not to miss was lunch at Las Brisas, so we made it the first stop on our one-day road trip.

We didn’t have a reservation, but we were lucky and got a table on the outside patio with a killer view of the beach. We shared a guacamole with nachos to start with, and then we had each our seafood salad. I don’t remember the exact price of the salad, but it was quite expensive. Though, considering that it had both lobster, seared tuna and crab on top, the higher price seemed reasonable (I mean, what do you usually pay for a bowl of sad looking iceberg lettuce with canned tuna on top?).

Right next to us was a bachelorette party with some really loud señoritas. They had, what appeared to be a zillion margaritas, so I really hope for the bride-to-be, that the wedding was at least a couple of weeks away, so she’d have a fair chance to recover from that inevitable hangover.

After lunch, we went for a long walk along the beach and took a couple of jumping pictures. I don’t know why, but I always end up looking like one of those chestnut animals young children make in kindergarten. I guess I have to work on my jumping pose..

We even spotted the two guys on the picture below. I’m not quite sure what they are doing, but it looks like they are paddling standing up?

Another nice beach not too far from Los Angeles is Newport Beach, which you can read about here >>
