NJ: Lunch at Boschetto in Montclair

Tina and I were looking for a place for lunch in Montclair. We were initially driving for Faubourg, which is an old favorite of ours, but then we saw Boschetto and decided to give it a try. Tina told me she had passed by Boschetto on several occasions, but they've always been closed when she has been there, so she was really curious about the place.

We went to the counter to order, and after some debating back and forth, we decided on the Insalata Pomodoro with marinated tomatoes, stracciatella and chili. The tomatoes tasted like they had been ripened in the sun and the seasoning and the tomato-to-stracciatella ratio was just right. Also, how nice it was to finally be able to sit outside again, and also get a little sun-ripened ourselves.

The Insalata Pomodoro was a delicious dish, and it was a large portion that would have been enough for lunch for both of us, but we didn’t know that, so a Pasta Amatriciana was also added to the order. Could have been without it, not just because we were already full from the salad, but the pasta was a bit overcooked and didn’t really do it for any of us. Looking back, we should have skipped the pasta and gone for the pistachio gelato instead.

Mitzie Mee - Sanne

Welcome to my New Jersey Blog. I've spent a lot of time in New Jersey over the years, mainly visiting my friends Tina and Ale, but Steve and I have also explored the state together on several trips. Jersey City and Hoboken are just a quick ride on the PATH train from Manhattan, and both are full of great restaurants, cozy cafés, and neighborhoods that are well worth getting to know. New Jersey often gets overshadowed by New York, which is a shame because there's so much to see and do here. On my New Jersey blog, I'm sharing my favorite places, along with restaurant recommendations, local finds, and travel tips. Whether you're planning a trip to New Jersey or simply curious to discover a different side of the New York City area, I hope you'll find plenty of inspiration here.
