NYC: Homemade Taqueria

Homemade Taqueria - Nice Birria Tacos in New York - NYC Blog

After a long flight to New York, the only thing I wanted was something good to eat. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, just a place nearby where I could sit down and recover from the jet lag. That's how I ended up at Homemade Taqueria.

The colorful storefront caught my eye, and the menu looked promising, so I went in and ordered the birria tacos. It turned out to be exactly what I was craving. The tortillas were warm, the beef was incredibly tender, and the meat had that rich, slow-cooked flavor that makes birria tacos so satisfying. They came with a cup of consomé for dipping, which added even more flavor.

The last time I had birria tacos was at Chofi Taco in Union City, where Ale (@lemontwist_nyc) introduced me to one of the best versions I've tried. Homemade Taqueria came surprisingly close. If I had to compare the two, I'd still give Chofi a slight edge because I liked their consomé a little better, but these tacos were excellent.

I assumed Homemade Taqueria was a small neighborhood spot, so I was surprised to learn it's actually a local chain with several locations around New York City. Fortunately, the food doesn't feel like chain restaurant food at all. Everything tasted fresh, and the place still had the relaxed, neighborhood taqueria atmosphere I was hoping for.

If you find yourself in New York and need a quick, satisfying meal, Homemade Taqueria is a solid choice. I'd happily order those birria tacos again.

Foldable Flats - A Lifesaver in New York City

A pair of foldable flats is one of those things you don't think you need until you do. I always keep a pair in my purse for New York, whether it's after a night out in heels, a day of sightseeing that turned into 20,000 steps, or a long subway ride home. They barely take up any space and are a total lifesaver when comfort suddenly becomes the priority.
