Sawgrass Mills – Outlet Shopping in Florida

Sawgrass Mills, outlet shopping, Florida

Sawgrass Mills is the biggest outlet mall in the U.S. so we thought it would be the perfect place to spend a day in jetlagged zombie mode. The mall has a nice mix of stores ranging from high-end designer brands to discount shopping, and there’s something for every budget. The biggest savings are probably in the big outlet stores such as T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Burlington, Century 21, Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off Fifth.

My personal favorites are Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off Fifth. They’re more expensive than the other stores I just mentioned, but I like their selection of brands and designers better. The stores are also nicer, and it’s almost like shopping in cheaper versions of the real department stores (Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue).

When you get hungry, there are several restaurants to choose among. Cheesecake Factory is always a safe bet, and this was also where we ended up yesterday. The portions at Cheesecake Factory are huge, so we decided to share a starter and a main; a burger and a tuna tartare. The burger was gigantic but the tuna tartare was tiny, and together they made up a perfectly sized lunch for two.

When we were done eating, the waitress came by our table and asked us, if we wanted a slice of cheesecake for dessert? ā€œNo thanksā€, I said ā€œI’m sooooo fullā€. She glanced at the plate with the leftovers of the tiny tuna tartare, before she looked at me as if I had ā€œeating disorderā€ written on my forehead. I quickly added that I also had half of the burger, but I’m not sure she believed me. Awkward..

It’s $7 to rent a shopping cart, which I think is quite a rip off. You don’t really have a choice though, unless you bring your own, because anyone with the slightest shopaholic tendencies would quickly be shopping too much to carry.

Please observe that you can’t bring the shopping cart inside the restaurants, so you’ll either have to go eating before you rent the cart, or hope to get a table outside.

What I bought:

– A beautiful dress from Club Monaco, which was marked down from $189 to $56

– A Samsonite carry-on luggage

– Lip balm at the Elizabeth Arden factory store.

– Gold ballet flats at Nordstrom

– Lots of stuff I don’t need (brownie brittle, shoe shine, a mini frying pan for a single egg and much more)

-Christmas presents I can’t tell you about because my family is reading along.
