Last month I met with my old friend AC in Paris. It was a rather spontaneous trip, planned in a few hours over the phone, but I am so happy that I went. AC lives in Norway and we did not see each other at all during the pandemic, so it was great to finally get to catch up in person.
Our first lunch in Paris was at Le Raspail, a cute cafe close to the hotel. AC got the dish of the day, which she said was delicious, and I had a Croque Monsieur (a grilled ham and cheese sandwich topped with lots of cheese). I always eat Croque Monsieur when I am in France, and it is not because I think it is a particularly nice dish (I often find the grilled cheese too heavy), but it has become some sort of ritual for me, and a croque monsieur lunch thus indicates the official beginning of the trip. Though the Croque Monsieur I got at Le Raspail was nice, and the homemade french fries were really good. We also had a glass of wine with the food, because, when in France… 🙂
