Yay! I’m in New York! I arrived late Wednesday evening, and even though it’s been misty and rainy ever since I came, it’s still great to be here! I’m staying at my friend Tina’s place in Brooklyn.
Tina runs her own business, Hungry Bird Eats and she makes the most amazing Nordic crisps. We’ve spent a lot of time talking about food, cooking food and eating food. Yesterday, she had an appointment in the city, so we agreed to meet up later for lunch.
Our first thought was to go to the much hyped Ivan Ramen Slurp Shop in Gotham West Market (read my blogpost about Ivan Ramen on Clinton St), but when we arrived, we thought that the tapas bar opposite Ivan Ramen looked more tempting, so the ramen plans quickly transformed into cava, oysters and jamón Ibérico at El Colmado instead.
Gotham West Market is like an upscale food court. There are a handful of restaurants to choose among, and you can either sit at the counter or at some of the common tables in the central part of the area.
Right now, it’s noon in New York City and Tina and I are on our way out to meet Ehsan, a friend of mine from university. We are lunch at Danji, which is a Korean restaurant that I’ve wanted to try for quite a while, so I’m really looking forward to see what it’s like.
