Fisketorget is a really nice seafood market and restaurant located in the heart of Stavanger, near the harbor. The restaurant is known for fresh, high-quality seafood sourced directly from local fishermen, and it is one of AC’s favorite restaurants in the city. The menu depends on the catch of the day, but there are two permanent items on the menu; the shrimp sandwich and the fish soup. Furthermore, the steamed mussels in coconut milk also seem to hold a rather permanent spot on the menu.
When we were there, I had the tasting menu Litt av alt, with bite-sized samples of some of the menu favorites. Everything I had was delicious, but if forced to choose a favorite, it would probably be the mini version of the steamed mussels in coconut milk. AC went for a 3-course menu so she had the full-size versions of the coconut mussels, a dish with ling fish, and the fish soup, and if you go, I think that approach is what I would recommend. The food is so good, so you’d want the full-size portions.
