Bangkok: Octave – The rooftop bar at Marriott
Octave is the rooftop bar at Marriott Hotel in the chic Thonglor area. The bar is very popular among Bangkok’s expats, and if you’re not there right when they open at 5pm, finding a good spot to watch the sunset from might be difficult.
In the lobby, you take the elevator to the 45th floor. From there, you take another elevator to the 48th floor. To get to the rooftop bar and the really amazing view, you then walk up the stairs to what would be the 49th floor.
One of the things I really like about Octave is that they manage to attract a crowd that goes beyond the usual tourist crowd and thus create an atmosphere, which is laid-back and stylish at the same time. From the bar you have the most amazing unobstructed view of the city, so remember to bring your camera (you won’t be the only one snapping away). Octave is one of my favorite bars in Bangkok, so when Rikke and I were in Bangkok at the same time, there was no way around Octave. As you can see in the video below, she loved the view as much as the drinks:)
