Hello Orlando! Denny’s and jet lag

Orlando Airport, sunrise

Hello from the Sunshine State! After checking in at the hotel, I went straight to Denny’s for a late breakfast. I really like the American breakfast at Denny’s, but last time I was at Denny’s, was actually in Tokyo, together with Rieko.

At Denny’s in Orlando, I had a rather strange, but very tasty combo of fried eggs, hash browns, bacon and custard-filled crepes and a steak and cheese sandwich.

After lunch, I went to do some shopping at a nearby outlet mall, before heading back to the hotel for a nap. My plan was to have dinner at a Japanese restaurant that Julia had recommended, but I was super jet-lagged and the afternoon nap turned into deep hibernation, and I did not wake up until 2am.

When traveling from Europe or the Middle East to the US, the time difference is a real pain. I wake up at 3am in the morning, and around 5pm US time, I am ready to go to bed. On several occasions, I have missed a night out, because I fell asleep. When I am traveling as a tourist, Asia is actually better, because even though I’ll sleep until noon, I would be awake and rested for the afternoon and the evening.

So instead of dinner at the Japanese restaurant, I ended up ordering food from Burger King:) Though it wasn’t as bad as it sounds, because at Burger King in the US, they have the Impossible Whopper, which is made with the plant-based Impossible patty, and that is what I ordered. It was so good! If I hadn’t known it wasn’t a beef Whopper, I wouldn’t have been able to tell the Impossible Whopper from the real deal.
