NYC: Gowanus and Parklife in the sun

Parklife, Gowanus, Brooklyn

Industrial and rough around the edges, Gowanus is probably one of the trendiest areas in Brooklyn right now. A bit like Williamsburg was before it became gentrified, the area is also blessed with more than its fair share of cool spots like Parklife, which is an outdoor bar set on the grounds of an old industrial space.

The hyped Mexican restaurant El Atoradero also runs a taqueria on the premises, so you can have their famous blue-corn tortillas along with your rosé, which is sold by the bottle for the thirsty ones. The tacos were delicious and got even better when I discovered all the different toppings and sauces you could add.

Trine and I were at Parklife with Sue and some other friends. We were just supposed to meet for a drink or two, but after tacos followed ceviche and after rosé followed frozen drinks, and we ended up staying until after dark. Later on, Leah and Mohammed joined, and the night continued with Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and Pineapple & Patrón, but I think it deserves a blog post on its own, so more on that later.

Parklife, 636 Degraw Street, Brooklyn, New York
