The last time I was in Bangkok, I stayed at INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit for my final few days before flying back to Denmark.
The hotel is right next to On Nut BTS Station, so getting around Bangkok couldn’t be easier. Thonglor, one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city, is only three stops away, and there’s a large Lotus shopping mall connected to the station. The streets around the station are full of street food stalls, and if you’re in the mood for a massage after a day out, you’ll find plenty of places within a few minutes’ walk.
I really liked staying in On Nut. It has a much more local feel than Bangkok’s main tourist areas, but with the Skytrain right outside, you’re never far from the rest of the city. If you prefer staying somewhere a little quieter without feeling cut off from everything, I think it’s a great neighborhood to base yourself in.
The Room
I stayed in one of the Townhouse rooms, which felt more like a small apartment than a hotel room. It was bright and modern, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Bangkok and enough space to both relax and get some work done.
The bathroom was spacious, and one detail I especially appreciated was the garment steamer I found on one of the shelves. It came in handy for freshening up my dresses.
The minibar was included and restocked every day, and the bed was huge and incredibly comfortable. I slept so well during my stay.
The Restaurants
The hotel has two restaurants as well as a co-working lounge in the lobby with a cafe serving good coffee and pastries.
Luz
Luz is the hotel’s Spanish tapas restaurant and rooftop bar. The menu is based on classic Spanish tapas, but several dishes have subtle Asian influences that work really well.
I stopped by one evening for cocktails and dinner, and the restaurant was busy with both hotel guests and people from the outside. Between the food and the city views, it’s easy to understand why.
My favorite dish was the salmorejo, a chilled, creamy tomato soup from Spain. At Luz it’s served with burrata, which made it even better.
Kites Eatery
Kites is where breakfast is served each morning, and later in the day the restaurant offers a menu of Thai and international dishes.
The restaurant is bright and inviting, with large windows overlooking the city. The breakfast buffet had everything I could ask for, including fresh fruit, pastries, hot dishes, made to order omelets, and a noodle station where you could have a bowl of freshly prepared noodle soup.
One afternoon I also tried the restaurant’s Pinto Lunch Set. It’s served in a traditional Thai pinto, a stackable metal lunch box with several small containers filled with different dishes. It’s a fun way to enjoy lunch because you get to try several different flavors in one meal.
The Pool
The infinity pool is on the 34th floor and has a fantastic view across Bangkok. After spending the day exploring the city, it was nice to come back, cool off in the pool, and watch the skyline stretch out in every direction.
Bangkok has plenty of beautiful rooftop pools, and this is definitely one of the better ones I’ve come across.
Is INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit Right for You?
I would happily stay here again.
The location next to the BTS makes it easy to get anywhere in Bangkok, while On Nut offers a quieter, more local atmosphere than many of the city’s busiest neighborhoods. The rooms are comfortable, the rooftop pool is excellent, and I thought both restaurants were really good.
I stayed here on my own, and it worked perfectly as a base for my last few days in Bangkok. I also think it would be a great choice for couples, or anyone looking for a modern, comfortable hotel with easy access to the rest of the city without staying right in the middle of the busiest tourist areas.
