I’ve wanted to try Gordon Ramsay Burger for ages, so this time the long line out in front of the restaurant couldn’t stop me. One of the benefits of traveling solo is that you’re often able to get seated faster, and at BurGR I didn’t have to wait at all, as long as I was fine with bar seating.
I ordered the Chanterelle burger with fig onion jam. While portobello mushrooms are on most burger menus nowadays, I don’t recall that I’ve seen any burgers with chanterelles except for the one at Burger. The chanterelles were buttery and delicious and complemented the juicy beef patty perfectly. Usually, I don’t like sweet stuff in my burger, but the fig jam and the chanterelles were an obvious match.
When I started taking pictures of my food, the elderly gentleman next to me got curious and asked, what the pictures were for. I told him about my blog and my guides and that sparked one of the most interesting food talks during this trip.
It turned out that he was from Denver and apparently, there’s a really nice restaurant in Denver, which serves rattlesnake. I promised him that if I ever came to Denver, I would definitely go there.
He also told me about Rocky Mountain oysters, which FYI has nothing to do with seafood. It’s fried bull testicles (I think it can be pork testicles too), and they also go under the name Cowboy Caviar…yummy?! ( I have now tried Cowboy Caviar at Searsucker and it’s not bad at all)
When his food arrived, he offered me to try one of his cheese poppers, which he claimed was among the best items on the menu, and he was so right. I immediately regretted, that I hadn’t ordered them myself.
Before commencing this trip, I was worried that 4 weeks would be too long traveling solo, but the days have passed so fast and I’ve never felt bored. I have met so many nice people during this trip, and while some of the acquaintances didn’t last longer than a talk about rattlesnakes, others have become friends I hope to have in my life many years from now.
Another nice burger restaurant in Las Vegas is Bobby’s Burger Palace. It feels more casual than Gordon Ramsay BurGR, and they have spiked milkshakes:)
Gordon Ramsay Burger doesn’t take reservations, but if you’re dining solo and you’re ok with bar seating, speak to the hostess and you might be able to walk right in.
There’s a business casual dress code, but I’m not sure whether it’s enforced.
