Hong Kong: A Mini Hotel instead of a capsule

Mini Hotel in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

I had booked a night in a capsule hotel in Causeway Bay, but there was a wine store at the address where the hotel was supposed to be. I went inside to ask the staff, but none of them knew anything about a capsule hotel, at least not in their store.

I tried calling the hotel, but nobody answered, so I called Hotels.com, but after holding for 5 minutes I gave up and booked another hotel, Mini Hotel, a 5-minute walk from where the capsule hotel was supposed to be. It was a very nice hotel that I wouldn’t hesitate booking again the next time I am in Hong Kong.

The room was not very big, but that was expected, when considering the name of the place. However, mirrors along the walls made the room seem bigger, and it was neat and clean, with almost no noise from the streets outside. The only thing that was missing was hand soap. The sink was in the room, so when you needed to wash your hands, you had to go to the shower cabin and squeeze out some soap from the dispenser, which was quite inconvenient. Otherwise, it was a very nice hotel, so if you are looking for affordable accommodation (I paid 57 USD for the room), Mini Hotel is a great choice.

Hong Kong is one of those cities that hits you right away—with its neon lights, narrow alleys, glossy malls, and street food that somehow tastes even better at 2am. And while hotel rooms here tend to be on the smaller side (space is a luxury!), they more than make up for it in location, views, and clever design.

Whether you're staying in Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, or somewhere a bit more local like Sheung Wan or Sai Ying Pun, there’s no shortage of great places to stay. Some come with rooftop pools, some with harbor views, and some just put you right in the middle of the action—which, in Hong Kong, is exactly where you want to be.

Here’s a link to check out hotels in Hong Kong—hope you find a spot that makes you fall in love with the city like I did.
