Khao Lak: A Wonderful Stay at The Little Shore by Katathani

Before heading out to Surin Islands, we spent a couple of days at The Little Shore Khao Lak by Katathani. We had booked a villa right by the beach, and it was every bit as wonderful as it sounds. Private pool, a huge bathroom, and lots of space and natural light. There was also a larger shared pool for the villa section, as well as another even bigger pool for all hotel guests, complete with a swim up bar and food service.

I’m not always the biggest fan of hotel food, but breakfast buffets at resorts in Thailand rarely disappoint. Even though it was tempting to sleep in and stay in the villa all morning, we still managed to make it to breakfast every day.

Breakfast was included and featured one of the most impressive buffets I’ve seen in a long time. There was an Asian section with noodle soup, different curries, and fried rice, alongside a more international section where you could order various egg dishes from a long menu. There was also a juice station where you could make your own fresh pressed juice from a selection of fruits and vegetables, and fresh waffles every day. One morning they came with sweet toppings, and the next day they were served with prosciutto and an herbed cream spread.

One of the things that worked especially well was the hotel app. We could message the front desk if we needed more water, housekeeping, or extra towels. You could also book transportation with a small buggy that would pick us up right outside the villa and drive us up to the main road, where there were restaurants, bars, and massage places.

The Little Shore is a wonderful place to stay if you feel like treating yourself, and it was the perfect place to recharge before our stay at Surin Islands. You get peace, comfort, and luxury in beautiful surroundings, along with a level of service I honestly haven’t experienced in many other places.
