Denmark: My Guide to a Perfect Weekend in Vejle: Where to Eat? Where to Stay? Things to Do?

My Guide to a Perfect Weekend in Vejle: Where to Eat, Where to Stay, and Things to Do

Vejle sits along the fjord, surrounded by hills and green landscapes, and makes for a perfect weekend getaway in Jutland. The city center is charming and easy to navigate, with a pedestrian street lined with independent boutiques and plenty of good shopping. There’s also an impressive selection of cafes and restaurants, so it’s easy to find something that fits your mood, whether that’s a quick lunch with smørrebrød or a multi-course dinner at a gourmet restaurant.

Vejle also works really well as a base if you want to explore more of this part of Jutland. Nature and attractions are all within easy reach, and if you’re already planning a trip to LEGOLAND, it makes perfect sense to combine it with a stay in Vejle.

Here’s my guide to a perfect weekend in Vejle.

Where to stay in Vejle

Most of the action in Vejle is centered around downtown, with the pedestrian street and surrounding side streets where you’ll find shops, cafes, and restaurants close together. Havneøen, the new waterfront area, is another great option if you prefer a quieter setting with views of the water, while still being within walking distance of the center. Four Points Flex by Sheraton Vejle is a solid choice here. The location is excellent, and if you get a room on one of the higher floors, the views over the area are fantastic.

If you want to combine your stay in Vejle with a spa experience, Comwell Kellers Park is a great option. It’s located just outside town by the fjord and is ideal for a wellness-focused stay where the goal is to completely unwind. The breakfast is also really good.

Where to eat in Vejle

Start your day at Conrad’s, which is a great spot for brunch or a late breakfast. For lunch, Madrick is a good choice, where you can put together your own lunch platter from a menu of small dishes. In the evening, all-you-can-eat sushi at Nara is always a favorite. It’s very good for the price, and the location at Dæmningen makes it a nice starting point for the rest of the evening. Remouladen on the harbor is another strong option if you’re in the mood for something a bit more refined, with modern Nordic food in a beautiful setting. You can also head back to Conrad’s for dinner. Their evening menu leans toward classic Danish cafe dishes, and their cocktails are big and well made.

Things to do in Vejle

Vejle is easy to explore on foot, and most things are close to each other. Start down by the waterfront, where you’ll find Bølgen and Fjordenhus, two of the city’s most iconic buildings. In the center, there’s good shopping along the pedestrian street, and if you want everything in one place, Bryggen shopping center is worth a visit. If you have a car, there are plenty of great day trips nearby. Kongernes Jelling is just a short drive away, where you can see the Jelling monuments, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And of course, LEGOLAND in Billund is an obvious choice. It’s such a fun place, even if you’re not traveling with kids.

Mitzie Mee - Sanne

Welcome to my blog about The Heart of Jutland. I grew up in a small village just outside Fredericia, so this part of Denmark has always had a special place in my heart. Even after many years of traveling around the world, this is still where I feel at home. Fredericia is the city where I spent most of my childhood, and it is also the place I think of as home when people ask where I’m from. Later in life I worked at the hospital in nearby Kolding, and for several years I flew out of Billund Airport as cabin crew. Through work, family, and everyday life, I have therefore spent a lot of time in this area and had plenty of opportunities to explore the towns, the countryside, and the coastline. There is truly a lot to experience here. Historic towns, beautiful nature, great restaurants, and plenty of things to see and do. It is also one of the easiest parts of Denmark to visit, whether you are flying into Billund or traveling through Jutland. Here on the blog I share my favorites from the Heart of Jutland. The restaurants I keep coming back to, cafés that are worth a stop, and the places and experiences I would recommend if you want to discover some of the best that the Heart of Jutland has to offer.
