When I was in Las Vegas last time, I walked by China Poblano at Cosmopolitan a bunch of times, but I found the Chinese-Mexican fusion concept a bit too strange, so I never dined there. Though tonight, I was really hungry, so instead of walking by, I had a seat in the bar, from where I could see how the dumplings were made. They looked really delicious, but I decided to stick to the Mexican part of the menu and ordered a fish taco and a tuna ceviche.
As mentioned, I was really very hungry, so I must admit that I don’t really remember, what the taco tasted like – I just gobbled it down- but I think it was good. The ceviche was an exciting mix of tuna, amaranth seeds and walnuts perfectly marinated in a soy-based sauce and with just the right amount of cilantro. Insanely good!
A Chinese-Mexican fusion restaurant may sound a little strange, but for those of us who love both Chinese and Mexican food, it makes perfect sense. I only tried the Mexican part of the menu, and it was amazing, especially the tuna ceviche. Next time I’m in Las vegas, I wouldn’t hesitate to try one their dumplings or some of the other Chinese dishes on the menu.
China Poblano is located in super trendy Cosmopolitan, which is also where you find the achingly hip new nightclub Marquee. Besides tasty food, the restaurant has a great selection of tequila and cocktails, which makes it an obvious place to start a night out.
Since this visit I have been back to China Poblano and tried their Ants Climbing a Tree Noodles, which were delicious. If you are craving Mexican food, you can get cheap and super tasty tacos at Tacos El Gordo.
