InterContinental was fully booked on my last night in Buckhead, so I booked a night at the Whitley instead. The Whitley used to be the Ritz-Carlton, and most of the staff are old Ritz-Carlton staff, so expect amazing service and friendliness.
The hotel has a really big indoor pool with sunbeds and big fluffy beach towels. The ceiling windows light up the pool area and let the sun shine in, so if you close your eyes for a moment, you can easily pretend that you are on the beach somewhere in southern France.
In the evening, I went to the bar to grab a drink and ended up staying in the bar the entire evening. The bartender was really nice, and we got to talk about Japanese Suntory whiskey, which is the brand that Bill Murray is hired to advertise in the Lost in Translation movie. Suntory comes in all price ranges and qualities, and it turned out that the bar had a really good one that I got to taste.
I had breakfast in the restaurant one of the mornings, and I was initially rather disappointed of the underwhelming breakfast buffet. Though it turned out that the breakfast buffet was just extra, and that you could order what you wanted from the breakfast menu. Unfortunately, I did not find out about that, until after a couple of rounds to the buffet, so at that time I was too full to order anything else, but worth bearing in mind if you are going for breakfast at The Whitley.
The room was nice, and the bed was really comfortable, but I did not spend much time in the room, as I was done with my exams and wanted to explore as much as I could of the area. The Whitley is located right next to Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, so it is almost impossible not to get some shopping done while you are there.
The Whitley is another great option in Buckhead, and staying there was such a nice experience. The hotel used to be a Ritz-Carlton, and you can tell. The service is exceptional, and the staff are genuinely warm and welcoming.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and there’s a large indoor pool with sunbeds and soft beach towels. Thanks to the glass ceiling, the whole area is filled with natural light, and it almost feels like being on the Riviera rather than in the middle of Atlanta.
The Whitley is perfectly located right by Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, so you’re surrounded by great shopping and restaurants. It’s a stylish, comfortable place to stay, with that refined Southern hospitality that Buckhead does so well.
