Singapore: Late Night Dim Sum at Swee Choon Tim Sum

It was Julie from Jewels Wandering who first told me about Swee Choon. It was one of her favorite places for dim sum when she lived in Singapore, and it’s one of those places that everyone in Singapore seems to know, but that can easily fly under the radar if you’re just visiting as a tourist. Swee Choon stays open until late at night, and on weekends until 4am, which also makes it a great place to stop for dim sum on your way home after a night out.

I was out for an evening walk around the neighborhood when I decided to stop by Swee Choon. I’d actually already had dinner, but there’s always room for dim sum, and I was curious to try this Singapore classic. That’s the nice thing about dim sum. You can just order as much or as little as you’re in the mood for.

I ordered the Salted Egg Yolk Custard Bao, Sichuan Chilli Oil Dumplings, and Fried Golden Tofu with Pork Floss. Everything was really good, hot and freshly made, and if I hadn’t already eaten dinner, I could easily have gone a little crazy with the menu.

Swee Choon has a huge selection of small dishes, and there were so many other things on the menu I wanted to try. That’s also the downside of going out for dim sum alone. When you’re with a group, you can order more dishes and try a little of everything before you get full.

Well, well. I guess that just means I’ll have to go back another time.
